The Compelling Logic of Buying a Pre-Owned Fine Swiss Watch
When one hears the word “pre-owned” watch, it generally engenders a dusty old watch with a cracked crystal that is lying in a corner of a pawnshop showcase. This section of our website is intended to save you, the consumer, money, but not to connive you into buying a pre-owned watch. Keep an open mind, and any questions left unanswered, it would be our pleasure to help you out with.
To further confirm this, I called several of the major companies, and I got the same answer. That was the day Capetown’s lifetime warranty was born. This program has worked out splendidly ever since. This warranty is free to our clients, but alas it is not free to Capetown. It is just part of the cost of doing business, but we are happy and so are our clients. In addition to the superior workmanship of the Swiss, there is another aspect that makes a pre-owned watch intensely valuable. That is the simple fact that a great many of the upscale manufacturers do not give into the caprice continually changing styles; which is costly and cash draining. As an expert in the business, I can not tell very easily how old a Rolex is that someone is wearing without personally examining it; likewise with Patek Philippe, Cartier, and most of the rest. Fine watches are like a bespoke English suit, and decades go by without a change.
Now to the dirty little secret with these Swiss watches... They do break, and they require scheduled routine maintenance. One of the unbelievable facts is that most companies take weeks, if not months, to return the watch to you. In some instances, we can offer overnight service, and pick up all the tabs. We know how attached people can get. If you are going to be anal retentive about the time, and you expect a mechanical Rolex watch to keep perfect time by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, you should buy a Rolex quartz. The institute does not rely on mechanical watches when they voice the time. We do not guarantee atomic time. I am making the statement that we can virtually return these watches to showroom perfection, and should you buy one from our company, you have a full right to return it if you feel you are the victim of overstatement. At this juncture with my career in the company, we have sold more than 20,000 Swiss watches. So, my advice in this case, it is safe to be trusting. Do not spend more money then you have to. Furthermore, when regarding a pre-owned watch, it is generally delivered to you in its original factory presentation case with all available paperwork & tags. If any of this is not available, we would inform you upon purchase.
I might add that many Swiss manufacturers are taking 45 days to 6 months to return watches to the client. I know this sounds unbelievable, but it is not. Because Capetown owns our restoration center, and if you are in a rush, we can accommodate you. With us, you will at least get a sympathetic soul rather then somebody in Switzerland who won’t even talk to you on the phone. This is part of the reason that Capetown has become the foremost fine watch & upscale jewelry discounter in the world. The client gets the edge, always! Now if this dissertation does not convince you to buy a pre-owned Swiss timepiece, here at Capetown, we also offer considerable discounts on new Swiss timepieces. Although we would like to save you more with a pre-owned timepiece, we will give you the same service with a new timepiece. Carl Marcus |
